Inclusion
INCLUSION AT OUR LADY’S
Every child valued. Every child belongs.
At Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School, we believe every child is a unique gift from God, with their own strengths, interests and talents.
We want every child to feel welcomed, understood and able to take part in school life. Our approach to inclusion brings together learning, wellbeing and support for families.
What inclusion means to us
Inclusion is part of how we teach, care for children and work together. We have high expectations for every child and work to understand and reduce the barriers they may face.
A sense of belonging
Knowing children as individuals, listening to their views and helping them build positive relationships within our school community.
Access to learning
Adapting teaching and support so that children can build knowledge, develop independence and participate in an ambitious curriculum.
Working together
Listening to families, sharing what we notice and drawing on specialist advice where it can help us understand a child’s needs.
Support for children and families
Children may need support with their learning, communication, emotional wellbeing or changes in their lives. Families may also need practical advice or help finding local services.
The pages in this section explain different types of support, including Compass mental health support. You can also explore our SEND and pastoral information below.
Let’s start with a conversation
You know your child best. If something is worrying you, or you feel your child needs extra support, please speak to their class teacher or contact the school office.
For questions about special educational needs and disabilities, our SENDCo is Mrs Winkett. The school office can help you arrange a conversation.
