    Year 3 Curriculum

In Year 3, children begin their journey through Key Stage 2, building on the knowledge and skills developed in Years 1 and 2. We support this transition by helping children grow in confidence, take greater responsibility for their learning and approach new challenges with curiosity.

Children develop their reading fluency and understanding, organise their ideas in writing and strengthen their mathematical knowledge through practice, reasoning and problem-solving. Across the wider curriculum, they investigate questions, examine evidence and explain their thinking using increasingly precise vocabulary. Revisiting earlier learning helps them make connections and develop a deeper understanding of each subject.

Our Catholic faith guides this journey. Children reflect on how their choices affect others and how they can use their gifts to contribute to their class, school and wider community.

The curriculum documents below outline what children learn in Year 3. They identify the key knowledge, skills and vocabulary taught across subjects and help families talk about and support learning at home.
