    Year 4 Curriculum

In Year 4, children build on their learning in Year 3, strengthening their knowledge and becoming more independent in how they approach tasks. We encourage them to explain their ideas, consider different viewpoints and persevere when learning becomes challenging.

Children deepen their understanding of texts, develop their writing for different purposes and audiences, and become more fluent in using multiplication and division facts. Across the wider curriculum, they investigate questions, compare information and use evidence to support their conclusions. Revisiting key knowledge and vocabulary helps children make connections and apply their learning with increasing confidence.

Our Catholic faith guides this journey. Children explore fairness, responsibility and service, considering how they can follow Jesus’ example through their relationships, choices and care for the world around them.

The curriculum documents below outline what children learn in Year 4. They identify the key knowledge, skills and vocabulary taught across subjects and help families talk about and support learning at home.
