    Year 2 Curriculum

In Year 2, children build on the foundations established in Year 1, becoming increasingly confident and independent learners. As they complete Key Stage 1, we help them strengthen their understanding and prepare for the next stage of their education.

Children develop greater fluency in reading, express their ideas more clearly in writing and deepen their mathematical understanding through reasoning and problem-solving. Across the wider curriculum, they ask questions, explore evidence and make connections with previous learning. Regular opportunities to revisit key knowledge and vocabulary help children remember and apply what they have learnt.

Our Catholic faith guides this journey. Children explore how they can use their gifts to help others, take responsibility for their choices and follow Jesus’ example through kindness and respect.

The curriculum documents below outline what children learn in Year 2. They identify the key knowledge, skills and vocabulary taught across subjects and help families talk about and support learning at home.
