    Commando Joe's

At Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School, we use Commando Joe’s to support children’s personal development and help them discover their strengths. Through practical challenges and team missions, children have opportunities to solve problems, share ideas and persevere when things become difficult.

    Developing character through RESPECT

The programme focuses on seven character traits:

    • R – Resilience: Keeping going when faced with a challenge and learning from setbacks.

    • E – Empathy: Considering other people’s feelings and showing kindness.

    • S – Self-awareness: Recognising our strengths, feelings and areas for development.

    • P – Passion: Approaching activities with enthusiasm, interest and determination.

    • E – Excellence: Taking pride in our efforts and striving to do our best.

    • C – Communication: Listening carefully, sharing ideas clearly and encouraging others.

    • T – Teamwork: Working together, valuing everyone’s contribution and taking responsibility.

    Learning through challenge

Commando Joe’s encourages children to think creatively, make decisions and work towards shared goals. Children are encouraged to try different approaches, reflect on their experiences and recognise how their choices affect the team.

These experiences complement our Catholic ethos and the Catholic Pupil Profile. They provide opportunities to put kindness, courage, respect and responsibility into practice.

Through Commando Joe’s, we aim to help children grow in confidence, recognise their God-given talents and develop skills they can use in their learning, friendships and everyday lives.
