Year 5

Life in Year 5 is an enjoyable mix of hard work, friendship and being a good disciple, in line with our Gospel Values.

Our Catholic Faith is very important to us, and in Year 5 we strive to ensure that we live out our Mission to the best of our ability every day. We participate in assemblies, as well as celebrating class centred and whole school Masses. We also ensure that we focus on the virtues for each half term and ensure that we are all striving to achieve these.

In our classroom you will find a happy learning environment where all children are encouraged and engaged in their learning in order to reach their full potential. We are very proud of our displays, they are a culmination of our best work and tips to help us succeed every time!

As well as daily work in Reading, Mathematics and Literacy, the children have a wide curriculum to stretch and challenge them. There is always great interest in our subjects and our creativity allows us to experience a broad, balanced curriculum. We plan and carry out our own experiments in Science.

During our creative curriculum, we now look at five new and exciting topics which incorporate the rest of the curriculum. We start with Scream Machine in Autumn 1, we then look at Beast Creator moving onto Alchemy Island, followed by Off With Her Head! and finishing the year with Pharaohs. The children enjoy learning Spanish in our Modern Foreign Language lessons. During PE we take part in a variety of sports, for example: football, dance, cricket and hockey.

Our class Saint is, Saint Brigid - please pray for us.
