Year 6

Year 6 is a very important year to us as it is our last year of primary school.

This wonderful year is time of preparation in many different ways. We prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation. This is a very special time because we work together to gather a deeper understanding of our faith. It is the time in our lives when we stand up to say 'Yes' to God's invitation to love and serve him. We consider, discuss and find out what it really means to be a follower of Christ in our world today.

We also prepare for our SATs tests. We have literacy, numeracy and reading every morning which develops our skills and understanding of these subjects. We also have PE, RE and computing lessons. In the afternoons, throughout the year, we also study History, Geography, Science, D&T, Art, Music and PSHE – it's a very busy year!

Throughout the year we prepare for Secondary school. We know that we need to learn more about being independent and what our world. To prepare for this we have lots of jobs and responsibilities around school and we know we have to set a good example to the younger pupils through our work and excellent behaviour.

In Year 6 we enjoy learning about and experiencing new and exciting things. We enjoy a visit to St Chad's Cathedral as well as many other exciting places. We enjoy learning through a variety of different ways including drama, debate and group work.

Year 6 is a celebration of our time at Our Lady's and there is a special assembly, Mass and production at end of the year. We invite our school, home and parish community to celebrate with us. These events, as well as the whole of year 6, give us lasting memories that we can take forward with us and carry with us for the rest of our lives.
