LO: To write instructions for 'How to catch a star'

Read ‘How to Catch a Star’ by Oliver Jeffers. After reading, ask the children to discuss the ways the little boy tried to catch the star. Ask them to think of other imaginative ways that the boy could have tried to catch the star. Give children time to share their ideas with you. Provide a large sheet of paper or a ‘How to catch a star writing template’  and ask them to record their ideas. Challenge children to label their pictures and write simple captions or sentences to instruct someone how they could catch the star.

You could also place stars around the home, some of them in hard to reach places, and allow your child to collect stars.
