LO: To retell a familiar story

Read the story of ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt' to your child

Repeat the story encouraging your child to use actions and props eg long wavy grass- waving arms and making a sh sound,  river – splash water in a sealed bottle, mud – stamping feet, forest – waving crackly paper, snowstorm- pebbles in a sealed tube, cave – drum bang.

You could encourage participation by going outside and going on a journey using picture cards to sequence as prompts. Using images from ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt’ model writing a sentence for one or two of the images.

Activity: Make a simple book using captions, phrases and sentences from the story.
