Year 5's Villa Vitality Day

9 April 2008

On 9th April 2008, Year 5 were invited to Aston Villa's Football Ground for a unique opportunity to develop their understanding of the importance of healthy eating and physical activity.

The children thoroughly enjoyed being Villa chefs and preparing and cooking their own lunch of minestrone soup, pizza and fresh fruit salad. They also designed and produced a radio show on healthy living on Villan Radio.

The day ended with a tour of the football ground. I'm sure that if the children weren't Villa fans before the trip, they certainly were after!

Aston Villa's own chef Adam Pickett began by instructing the class on safety in the kitchen and the correct use of kitchen utensils.

After a tour of the Villa Ground, the class were taken down to the pitch and were privileged to sit in Martin O'Neill's dug out.

The class marvelled at the condition of the grass and a few of our Villa fans let their imaginations run wild.
