  • A Day in Politics

    In the second year of working with Enabling Enterprise, Our Lady’s chose to continue embedding the all-important Enterprise Skills across the curriculum with a focused challenge day, especially for their aspiring Year 6 entrepreneurs.

    After a most successful Going Live Lesson Time Project and Moonbase Challenge Day whilst in Year 5 last year, expectations of these 10 and 11 year olds were high from the outset.

  • K’Nex centre of excellence

    Pupils and staff at Our Lady’s Tile Cross, Birmingham are delighted to have been appointed as a centre of excellence for Data Harvest Robotics who provide primary school science and technology products worldwide. With the enthusiastic help of Bren Taylor Senior Education Advisor at Link2ICT based in Birmingham, Our Lady’s was approached to be a local centre of learning for the K’NEX range of physical computing equipment and software.

    Recently Data Harvest visited the school to provide training to staff.This session was also attended by some children who were more than happy to help. The staff and children were given the opportunity to see the equipment and learn about the educational benefits it offers by broadening the school’s resources to help all students achieve.

    Philip Monks came back to school today to celebrate our fabulous poems for National Poetry Day. Each class performed a selection of the poems they had created and we enjoyed hearing Philip perform some of his poems.

    Today poet and playwright Philip Monks is in school to help us create some fantastic poems. Each class have chosen their own picture to use as a writing stimulus. All of our pictures and poems are based on the theme of ‘Light’ to help us get ready for National Poetry Day on Thursday.

    On Thursday Philip is coming back to school to celebrate to celebrate the fabulous poetry we have written and each class will be perform some of their poems in a special assembly.
